Deja Vu | Autumn 21

OnceWas is thrilled to introduce the much-anticipated Autumn collection, ‘Deja Vu’. Designed in the middle of Melbourne’s extended lockdowns, this collection is heavily influenced by the need - now, more than ever - to combine comfort with style.

Amid the global pandemic last year, we were faced with the difficult decision to cancel our Winter 20 collection, meaning the exclusive prints and fabrics ready for production were left unused. Staying true to our philosophy of minimising waste, we decided to repurpose these materials and redesign them into some of our best-selling shapes and styles. Thus, ‘Deja Vu’ was born.

Featuring earthy tones from rich tans to vino reds and sky blues, combined with luxe textures and classic prints - Deja Vu is the perfect trans-seasonal collection to take you from the warmth of summer to the cooler months of autumn & beyond. Relaxed pieces and wardrobe staples prevail, mixed with luxurious leather investment items and our signature versatile dresses, blouses and pants.

“My favourite piece is our best selling Novella Fur Bomber which sold out in record time last season and we have repeated in new colours of tan and khaki. Such a versatile piece that I like to throw on over my gym gear or dress up with leather pants and heels. Another versatile piece that will be on high rotation in my wardrobe, is the Recollection Stretch Denim Trench which has a luxurious peached hand feel and khaki pigment dye, designed to pair back with virtually everything in the collection” said our Director and Head Designer, Belinda Glynn.

The campaign was shot by the talented Melbourne photographer Michelle Tran, and features her best friend, model Emilia Skuza. The pair had formed a ‘singles bubble’ during Melbourne's strict lockdowns, which proved integral to bringing Deja Vu to life. Initially planning to shoot the campaign in Sydney, OnceWas’ Belinda Glynn was pleased to be able to support some of Melbourne's creatives that hadn’t been able to work throughout the pandemic.
“Thanks to the wonders of technology, I was still able to view every shot frame by frame and the two girls did an amazing job of juggling hair and make-up, outfit changes and photography as well as video. Using Michelle’s home as a backdrop was not only necessary under the restrictions but fit in perfectly with the feel of the collection, adding to the relaxed minimal vibe” said Belinda Glynn.

We invite you to explore this new collection, now available to pre-order online & available in early March in stockists nationwide. OW x
